HIV Treatment
Current HIV medications are highly effective. Most people living with HIV only need to take a single pill once a day. If you take medication regularly the amount of the HIV virus in your body (the ‘viral load’) should be reduced to an ‘undetectable’ level. This protects your health, but it also means that you can’t pass HIV on to other people.
We are not an HIV clinic and we cannot prescribe or monitor treatments for HIV. However, if you are new to the Leicestershire or Northamptonshire areas, we can help connect you with your local HIV clinic to continue your treatment.

Leicestershire HIV services (Jarvis Clinic)
The Jarvis Clinic is the local HIV clinic for people living with HIV in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It is based at Leicester Royal Infirmary. The team of dedicated nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and clinical psychologists will be able to see to your needs to ensure that you can live a fulfilling and healthy life whilst staying on top of your HIV status.
If you are living in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland and have had a recent HIV diagnosis or are currently living with HIV; you can self-refer to The Jarvis Clinic located at Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment. If you have problems contacting the Jarvis Clinic, contact the Trade office and we will do our best to connect you to them.

Northamptonshire HIV services
In Northamptonshire, HIV services are integrated into the local sexual health clinics. There are two local clinics to choose from – one at Northampton General Hospital in Northampton, and the other at St Mary’s Hospital in Kettering. Trade’s HIV Peer Support worker is embedded in these clinics, working closely with the nursing and medical staff to ensure you get the support you need to live a healthy and fulfilling life.
